Campbell’s Chicken noodle soupM’m M’m Good! “America’s favorite food”, as it is so rightfully named, Campbell’s Soup Company was originally called the Joseph A. Campbell preserve company. The company sold canned tomatoes, vegetables, jellies, soups, condiments, and minced meats. In 1897 however a huge milestone occurred when a man named Dr. John T Dorance, a chemist joined the company. This man made his mark in soup history when he invented condensed soup in 1897. He eliminated the water in canned soup, and thus saved the company money on packaging, shipping, and storage. This idea became so hot with Americans that the company formerly changed its name to include Soup as its middle name, and so it became the Campbell Soup Company. Some of the most successful condensed soups were the tomato soup , introduced in 1987, cream of mushroom in 1934, and the beloved chicken noodle soup in 1934 as well. Today Campbell’s offers a plethora of soups, any kind of soup imaginable and it can be almost guaranteed Campbell’s will have it. And combined Americans consume about 2.5 billion bowls of these soups per year! That’s a heck of a lot of soup. And all’s well that ends well Campbell’s will continue to thrive for as long as Americans continue to love soup, and especially as long as they continue to love the “ Quick and easy” variety of soups.
